BCLC gives $1.1 million in rewards to nine players after slot machine error

The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) said it will be awarding nine people more than $1 million due to an error in a slot game.

“The Wizard of Odds” game was removed from PlayNow.com on June 10 after a display issue on the game, which prevented users from attaining their bonus jackpot.

After conducting a review, BCLC determined that nine players had reached that level, and did not collect a reward as a result of the software error. The total sum of their awards would have been $1,088,120, which BCLC said it will be paying them.

The game was live on the website for a total of 11 months, between July 16, 2014 to June 10, 2015.
