8 BC wines to sip on the patio this summer from BC Liquor Stores

This year, BC Liquor Stores are celebrating an incredible 30 years of BC wines. And while patio season is a little bit very different this year, that doesn’t mean you still can’t make the most of this gorgeous time of year.

We can’t think of too many better ways to spend the summer than by sipping on some of BC’s best wine. After all, if there’s something we know a thing or two about in this province, it’s some top quality grapes.

In celebration of 30 years, here are some of the top picks for the patio this season.

Bartier Bros Rosé

‘Tis the season to drink rosé, and this stunning pale variety from Bartier Bros in Oliver is a go-to. A glass of this dry, fruity, and structured yet soft rosé with notes of strawberry, raspberry, lychee, and pear goes perfectly with lighter summer dishes.

Black Sage Cabernet Franc

More in the mood for a vino tinto? This rich Cabernet Franc from Black Sage in the Okanagan has notes of dried sage, smoky mocha, vanilla, plum, and black cherry and pairs perfectly with hearty dishes like beef and mushroom.

CedarCreek The Senator

Even though it’s summer, it doesn’t have to be all white wine all the time. Mix it up with a bottle of red, like this beautiful Bordeaux-style blend from CedarCreek. It was made in tribute to Senator Ross Fitzpatrick, a big player in the fruit and wine industry in the Okanagan. And if you’re looking for some culinary inspiration, it pairs perfectly with grilled salmon or a Nicoise salad.

Hester Creek Character White

In the summertime, it can seem like all we drink is white wine. It’s delicious, light, and refreshing — why wouldn’t we? But sometimes it can be hard to find something new and exciting.
