BC health officials to provide weekend COVID-19 update following record-high cases

Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix will be giving a televised provincial update on coronavirus cases in the province on Saturday.

This comes after a record-breaking 589 new COVID-19 cases were announced on Friday.

Health officials normally provide daily COVID-19 updates during the week, with televised press conferences on Monday and Thursday and written briefings on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Henry and Dix have not yet provided a reason behind Saturday’s briefing.

This is the first time since spring that officials will be holding a COVID-19 press conference on the weekend.

The announcement will be livestreamed on the Government of BC’s YouTube and Facebook pages.
