Two BC universities have been named among the top 10 in Canada for employability.
Times Higher Education says that the new ranking reveals which Canadian universities are the best at preparing students for the workforce based on recruiters at top companies.
The two BC universities ranked among the top 10 in Canada are the University of British Columbia (UBC), which ranked #3, and the University of Victoria (UVIC), which ranked #8. Times Higher Education says that students considering graduate jobs should be pleased to know that some Canadian universities have an “excellent reputation with employers.”

The University of Toronto and McGill University ranked #1 and #2, respectively, and both universities have faired very well in other recent university rankings.
“The University of British Columbia has a jobs and volunteering board for students and alumni to browse and find opportunities,” Times Higher Education says.
“UBC also gives employers the opportunity to recruit students from the university through careers fairs, recruitment booths, and uploading jobs to the university’s jobs board.”
The 10 Canadian universities were gathered from a more extensive global list, ranking the best universities in the world for employability.
UBC ranked #36 in the Global Employability Ranking, while UVIC ranked #186.
“Canadian universities are popular with international students for offering cheaper tuition costs than many US colleges, as well as a simple application process,” Times Higher Education adds.
MIT in Boston is the top university in the world regarding employability. The California Institute of Technology and Standford University round out the top 3, with Harvard behind at #4. The University of Toronto was the only Canadian university in Times Higher Education’s global top 20, at #14.
Last month, UBC was also named the second-best university overall in Canada by Times Higher Education.
While SFU never made the list, Maclean’s named it the best comprehensive university in Canada last month.
