Ballot box. (Elections BC)

British Columbians who have not yet voted in the provincial general election — completely separate from last week’s civic election — have one final opportunity today, Saturday, Oct. 24, 2026, to help decide which party forms the next provincial government and who becomes premier. Voters will elect an MLA in each of B.C.’s 93 ridings.

Elections BC’s preliminary figures show 891,348 people voted at advance polling locations during advance voting’s six-day period from Oct. 16 to 21. That is 110,656 fewer than the 1,002,004 advance voters in the 2024 provincial election, a decline of about 11 per cent.

Today, the main voting day, voting places are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Before heading out, check Elections BC’s Where to Vote tool for voting locations and hours.

Your assigned voting location is printed on your Where to Vote card mailed to your place of residence, but you can cast a ballot at another voting place anywhere in the province if that is more convenient. Bring the card if you have it, although it is not required to vote.

To be eligible to vote, you must be a Canadian citizen, be at least 18 today, and have been a B.C. resident since April 23, 2026. If you are not registered, you can register when you arrive to vote.

Bring acceptable identification, such as a B.C. driver’s licence or B.C. Identification Card. Alternatively, bring two accepted documents showing your name, with at least one showing your current address. Voters without ID can have an eligible person vouch for them under Elections BC’s rules.

Anyone still holding a completed mail-in ballot package must ensure it reaches Elections BC by 8 p.m. today. Packages can be dropped off at a voting place or district electoral office. Voters who requested a package but have not returned it can instead vote in person.

Ballot counting will begin shortly after 8 p.m. Daily Hive Urbanized will provide election night coverage.
