While the West Coast is known for its chill vibes, it turns out that B.C. might not be as laid back as we thought.

According to a new “Rage Index,” B.C. has ranked as one of Canada’s angriest provinces.

The study was compiled by research company Pollara and measures the “mood of Canadians regarding their governments, the economy, and current events.”

Pollara conducted an online survey of 3,400 adult Canadians (18 years and older) between May 16 and 20, 2025. A total of 395 British Columbians were included in the study.

The survey asked respondents how angry or annoyed they were regarding six topics: the latest stories in the news, the Canadian economy, types of changes happening in Canada, the provincial government, their personal financial situation, and the federal government.

The study’s findings show that, overall, Canadians are less enraged than they were since last November, “especially toward the federal government, where anger has dropped by 18 points,” states Pollara.

“There’s also less frustration with provincial governments (-10), the types of changes happening in the country (-10), and recent news stories (-8).”

Despite this decrease in overall rage in Canada, the study found that 48 per cent of respondents from B.C. felt annoyed or angry about the six topics in question.

This makes B.C. one of the angriest provinces in the country (tied with Ontario), after Alberta and Saskatchewan (52 per cent), and Nova Scotia (49 per cent).

A provincial breakdown of the six topics revealed that British Columbians are most annoyed or angry with the latest news stories (60 per cent), the Canadian economy (59 per cent), and the types of changes occurring in Canada (52 per cent).
