The B.C. Lions have signed veteran import offensive tackle Ben Archibald to a contract extension.

A veteran of six CFL seasons, Archibald has quietly become one of the most decorated offensive lineman in the league today.

Archibald’s career achievements include:

  • CFL Awards: Most Outstanding Lineman 2010
  • West Division Awards: Most Outstanding Lineman 2010, 2009
  • CFL All-Star: 2010, 2009
  • West Division All-Star: 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009

The two-time Grey Cup champion (2008 with Calgary and 2011 with B.C.) has started in all of B.C.’s  regular season and playoff games for the past two seasons. He has become one of the Lions’ most durable and relied upon offensive lineman. With his presence on the field, the Lions have ranked number one in the CFL in number of sacks conceded in 2011 and 2012. During these last two years the Lions have conceded a league-low total of 44 sacks. The Grey Cup winning season of 2011 saw the Leos post a remarkable stat of only 14 sacks allowed in all of the 18 regular season games played.

Archibald signed in B.C. in 2011 as a free agent from Calgary and is now entering his third year with the club.

The details of the contract extension have not been released.
