Dean Valli has decided to call it a career, retiring after ten seasons in the CFL.
“Dean gave us everything he had for 10 years and I’m grateful for his contributions to our club both on the field and in the community,” said Lions GM Wally Buono. “I know he steps away from the game with a very bright future ahead of him and we wish Dean the very best as he moves into the next phase of his life.”
Of course, Valli will forever be remembered for how Lions assistant coach Dan Dorazio described him to Team 1040 radio back when he was a rookie:

“He’s got a good lookin’ body”. It’s the greatest quote in 1040’s history.
Valli, who is from North Vancouver, played his university football at SFU and was selected by BC in the first round of the 2006 Draft.
He appeared in 10 regular season games for the club last season and 155 during his career, all with the Lions.
“It was an incredible honour to have been able to play my entire career for my hometown team,” said Valli. “The memories that I take away from this decade of professional football will be with me always and I’m excited about what the future holds for me both professionally and personally.”
