BC Legislature under lockdown following Ottawa attack

Dec 19 2017, 8:30 pm

The BC Legislature in Victoria is under lockdown following this morning’s shooting incident at Parliament Hill and the National War Memorial. One shooter has been shot and killed, but a second suspect is reportedly still on the loose in downtown Ottawa.

There is no imminent threat: additional security has been posted on the grounds at Victoria as a security precaution. The building is also currently closed to the public – only staff and government officials are allowed to enter.

Security at other provincial legislatures have also been heightened. More Toronto Police officers have been deployed to the Ontario Legislature at Queen’s Park.
