Power outage impacting tens of thousands of Vancouver customers
Thousands of residents in Metro Vancouver are currently experiencing power outages, according to BC Hydro.
The provider’s website says it is currently dealing with various outages impacting the Lower Mainland and Sunshine Coast.
On X, BC Hydro said 32,700 customers in Vancouver are being affected and added that crews are on scene. Power is expected to be restored by 10:30 a.m.

BC Hydro’s website says just over 12,420 customers are dealing with power outages that have been “planned.”
However, several in Vancouver are listed as being the cause of a “substation fault” that occurred at 9:21 a.m. on Monday.

BC Hydro’s outage map shows large areas of south and east Vancouver that are listed as currently experiencing outages.

In a statement to Daily Hive, BC Hydro said there are currently 33,000 customers without power, “largely in the Vancouver area.”
“We have electricians en route to our Mainwaring Substation to complete repairs as one of our circuits are out,” said a representative.
Just before 10:30 a.m., some customers reported that their power had been restored.
