6,400 BC Hydro customers still without power

Dec 20 2017, 1:08 am

As this weekend’s storm continues to soak Metro Vancouver in more rain than we’ve seen in months, thousands of people remain without power.

BC Hydro is currently working to restore electricity for the remaining 6,400 customers who have now spent up to three days in the dark.

The ongoing rain has not made crew efforts any easier; workers are being faced with mud and rushing rivers, causing access to certain areas to be challenging.

The largest outages are in Coquitlam and Port Moody where over 1,000 are in the dark. There are thousands more in Surrey, Langley, Maple Ridge, Chilliwack, Delta and Mission also without power.

Some of these customers have not had power since 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 29. This morning they will have reached 72 hours without electricity.
