BC HST Referendum Question: How Will You Vote?

Here it is the moment you all have been waiting for, the draft HST referendum question:

“Are you in favour of extinguishing the HST and reinstating the Provincial Sales Tax in conjunction with the GST? Yes or No.”

Personally, I feel the referendum is a waste of time and money. The very same money that could go into programs, health care etc… will be used to put this thing together. However, since most people hate the HST, simply because Bill Vander Zalm told them so or the way it was enacted. In reality the tax isn’t all that bad. For small business it’s actually quite good and it definitely cuts down on red tape. The businesses in Ontario are actually in favour of us scrapping the HST. Why? Because they feel it gives them a competitive advantage.

At the end of the day people will probably repeal the HST and we will all go back to the glory days of PST and GST and still pay the same amount of money for most things anyways.  Furthermore, if you think somehow that getting rid of the HST will save you money, think again, as the government will have to make up for the shortfall left by the HST somehow.
