BC Ferries passenger rescued after going overboard near terminal

Multiple BC Ferries sailings were cancelled Wednesday morning after a passenger went overboard into the ocean.
BC Ferries announced that its crew on the 7:45 am sailing departing from Duke Point in Nanaimo responded to a report of a passenger overboard upon arrival at the Tsawwassen terminal.
According to the BC Ferries website, the vessel sailing the route between Nanaimo and Tsawwassen at that time was the Queen of Alberni.

Due to the incident, BC Ferries cancelled two sailings, the 10:15 am departing Tsawassen and the 12:45 pm departing Duke Point.
“Other sailings on this route are expected to proceed as scheduled… Customers checked in at the terminal will be accommodated on this sailing.”
BC Ferries added that an alternate travel route was available to passengers earlier today between Horseshoe Bay in West Vancouver and Nanaimo. Anyone booked on a cancelled sailing would hear from its Customer Service Centre if they can be fit on another sailing today or if their booking would be cancelled.
