BC Ferries is treating customers to a one-day discount
Those looking to travel locally this summer are in for a treat because BC Ferries is offering customers a one-day discount.
BC Ferries will be celebrating its 65th anniversary on June 15, and to honour its special birthday, Saver fares have been added to all sailings between Metro Vancouver and Vancouver Island on that day and priced at $65 or less for a standard driver and vehicle travelling one way.
Foot and vehicle passengers can sail from $15 one-way for adults.
The special pricing is valid for all travel in either direction between:
- Vancouver (Tsawwassen) – Victoria (Swartz Bay)
- Vancouver (Tsawwassen) – Nanaimo (Duke Point)
- Vancouver (Horseshoe Bay) – Nanaimo (Departure Bay)
Usually, Saver fares are available for select sailings only and cost between $49 and $89. The cost of a reservation-only fare (one way) for a driver and car is $115, so this one-time discount is definitely a steal of a deal.
BC Ferries says travellers who want to take advantage of the June 15 Saver fares should book in advance online to secure their spot.
The ferry corporation said it started with only two vessels in 1960 and has grown to a 37-vessel fleet, carrying over 22 million passengers and 8 million vehicles each year.
This year, the system’s oldest vessel, the Queen of New Westminster, will turn 61.
In May, BC Ferries announced several upcoming changes at the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal in West Vancouver ahead of an extensive retrofit set to start this fall.
The project is focused on upgrading the terminal’s critical facilities and infrastructure, including upgrading or replacing all three berths, upgrading aging elevated structures, and improving seismic performance and operational efficiency.
