BC CDC flags 10 more flights with COVID-19 exposures

The BC Centre for Disease Control has identified 10 more flights with COVID-19 cases on board that have passed through British Columbia’s airports in recent days.

The flights were added to the BC CDC’s list of public exposures on January 27, 28, and 29.

The agency is warning anyone who was on the flights to monitor for symptoms for 14 days.

On Friday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that major Canadian airlines, including Air Canada and WestJet, would be suspending service to Mexico and the Caribbean until the end of April.

As well, international flights can only land at four airports across the country – including YVR – and travellers will be required to take a COVID-19 test upon arrival in Canada.

While they await the results of the test, passengers must quarantine at a designated hotel at their own expense. If the test is negative, they can complete the remainder of their mandatory two-week quarantine at home.

On January 19, Air Canada flight 128 from Vancouver to Toronto confirmed a COVID-19 case on board. Rows 1 to 4 are affected.

On January 20, Air Canada flight 234 from Vancouver to Edmonton carried an infected passenger. Rows 12 to 17 are affected.

Also on January 20, Air Canada 128 from Vancouver to Toronto reported a virus case. Affected rows are from 1 to 4.

On January 23, Air Canada flight 551, which travelled from Los Angeles to Vancouver, had a coronavirus case on board. Rows 18 to 24 are affected.

Also on January 23, Air Canada flight 254 from Vancouver to Kelowna carried a passenger with COVID-19. Rows 24 to 29 are affected.

On January 24, WestJet flight 139 from Calgary to Vancouver had a coronavirus case on board. Affected rows are from 8 to 14.

Also on January 24, WestJet flight 3315, which flew from Calgary to Comox, reported a virus case. Rows 3 to 9 are affected.

The same day, Aeromexico flight 696 from Mexico City to Vancouver confirmed a COVID-19 case. The affected rows have not been reported.

Also on January 24, WestJet flight 186 from Vancouver to Edmonton carried a passenger with coronavirus. Rows 15 to 19 are affected.

On January 26, Air Canada flight 255 from Kelowna to Vancouver had a virus case on board. Rows 20 to 26 are affected.
