BC’s last coronavirus update came on Friday afternoon, during which 737 new cases were confirmed, bringing the provincially recorded total to 40,797. At the time 342 individuals were confirmed to be hospitalized by the virus, 87 of whom are in intensive care.

As of the last announcement, 9,589 people were under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases. There were also 11 new COVID-19-related deaths reported, for a total of 598 deaths in British Columbia.

Last week, health officials also announced their plan for the COVID-19 vaccine, explaining how it works and how it will be rolled out to British Columbians over the coming weeks and months.

Nearly 400,000 British Columbians are expected to receive the vaccine by 2021, with priority being given to healthcare and long-term care workers who assist COVID-19 patients, followed by long-term care residents.
