Help support BC Children's Hospital at this Vancouver gala

Oct 20 2017, 4:27 am

It’s not often that you get to dress up in aid of a great cause in Vancouver.

But next Saturday, October 28 you can, because this year’s A Night of Miracles gala is happening at the Marriott Pinnacle Hotel in downtown Vancouver.

All proceeds raised from the evening will benefit BC Children’s Hospital and you’re invited to be part of this wonderful occasion.

Co-presented by Fasken Martineau and Rogers Communications, the gala will feature a gourmet four-course dinner created by chefs Vikram Vij and Frank Gort of the Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel. Oh, the meal will be accompanied by a selection of fine wines from Desert Hills Estate Winery, too.

The program kicks off at 5:30 pm with a VIP and media reception and will run until late at the Goa Beach Lounge after party. Just remember to wear either a black tie or formal Indian attire on the night.

By attending the gala, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and mingle with other passionate and philanthropic members of the community in Vancouver – all while raising necessary funds for BC Children’s Hospital.

BC’s South Asian community supported the gala in 2016, which raised more than $483,000 to support the purchase of a new state-of-the art bronchoscopy system, telescopes, and a video laryngoscopy set – vital equipment for treating children with illnesses of the lungs, ears, nose and throat.

Since its inception in 2009, the gala has raised in excess of $3.7 million for the hospital. And this year’s goal is to raise $500,000 towards the Point of Care Ultrasound Program (POCUS) in the soon to be opened Ledcor Children’s Emergency in the Teck Acute Care Centre.

POCUS is a bedside technology used by emergency doctors to help identify, treat, and minimize discomfort, for the more than 350 trauma patients seen at the hospital every year. As the only pediatric level 1 trauma centre in the province, every second matters at BC Children’s Hospital and as a result the hospital must have the most technologically advanced equipment.

You can make a difference and help sick children in BC by getting dressed up and attending the event. All you have to do is email Leah Peden at [email protected] to book a table, buy tickets, or become an event sponsor. It’s that easy.
