Lots of accolades have been handed out lately for beers around Canada and the U.S. and B.C.’s craft brewers have been coming out tops in multiple categories.
First up, the Canadian Brewing Awards (CBA) for 2015 were recently revealed. B.C.’s breweries were well-represented, with 13 Gold award beers in 45 categories.
One of the big winners was Delta’s Four Winds, who took the honour of being named the CBA’s Brewery of the Year of 2015.

Next, on June 5, the North American Beer Awards, an event sanctioned by the North American Brewers Association, were handed out. This prestigious event finds hundreds of beers entered for judging in multiple categories.
Proving B.C.’s beers stand their own on both sides of the border, the province’s brewers brought home a few NABA nods for 2015:
– Vancouver’s R&B Brewing took Gold for their Eastside Bitter in the Extra Special Strong Bitter category.
– North Vancouver’s Bridge Brewing Company also took gold for their All Out Stout in the Dry Stout category.
– Howe Sound Brewing from Squamish landed a gold for their Woolley Bugger Barleywine in the English-Style Barley Wine category, and their Pumpkineater Imperial Pumpkin Ale earned bronze in the Pumpkin Beers category.
– Mission Springs Brewing Company’s McLennan’s Scotch Ale took home the gold to Mission in the Smoke-Flavored Beer category, too.
In the cider section, Kelowna’s Broken Ladder, from the BC Tree Fruits Cider Company struck gold in the Draft Cider, Perry, Farmhouse style, Apple Wine category.
