Celebrate French culture in Yaletown at this free Bastille Day Festival

Jul 3 2017, 5:44 pm

There’s a French rendezvous taking place in Vancouver’s fanciest neighbourhood on Friday, July 14.

That’s right. You can celebrate everything about French culture at this year’s Bastille Day Festival at Yaletown’s Roundhouse Community Centre.

Hosted by non-profit association the Bastille Day Festival Society, the event is returning to the city for its third year and you’re invited to come out and celebrate the French National Day – La Fête Nationale.

The best part? Admission is completely free.

Kicking off at 11 am on Bastille Day, the festival offers Vancouverites the chance to be part of a global celebration to discover, embrace, and enjoy French cultural traditions. And that means it’s going to bring some Parisian flair to the city at the same time.

You’ll be able to enjoy a wide range of fun-filled, free activities at the event like browsing a French food market to seeing some epic live music performances.

But it doesn’t stop there.

At the festival, you’ll also have the chance to win a round trip from Vancouver to Paris for two people courtesy of Air France. All you have to do is enter a raffle on the day and wait to find out if you’re the lucky winner. It’s super easy.

In true French fashion, there will be a celebration of some of the country’s biggest exports – wine and cheese. You can experience the essence of this exceptional pairing for yourself by hitting up the festival’s wine and cheese party at 4:30 pm.

Bastille Day Festival aims to bring people together to celebrate the wonderful French ‘art de vivre.’ The French community is very active in Vancouver and BC year-round. And you’ll get to discover some of the local companies and initiatives involved by visiting the festival.

Now, bon appétit.
