It’s time to dig out your bib! Johnston’s Pork and Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry, and Angie Quaale of Well Seasoned Gourmet Food Store are proud to present the 1st Annual Barn Burner BBQ Competition on March 22 at The Farm Store in Yarrow.
This event is sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society and expects to attract thousands of barbecue fans from all over the Fraser Valley and the Prairies, as they gather to taste BBQ samples, enjoy the live-entertainment and demonstrations, visit vendors, and be part of a fun, local event.
The competition will feature a battle of BBQs in four main categories, including Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, Chicken and Ribs.
The winning team with the highest total points in all of the four categories will split the $5000 in prize money amongst themselves, along with the first Barn Burner BBQ Grand Championship trophy and bragging rights.
Teams will also compete in a BBQ “Black Box” cook-off. This “Iron Chef” style competition gives these BBQ competitors a chance to show off their more creative side. They will each be presented with a black box with four mystery ingredients. Those ingredients must be incorporated into a single dish and then be submitted to the judges.
Judges will award points based on originality, taste and presentation.
This event promises food, fun and fire–BBQ at its finest–so make sure to save the date.
Vendors will serve a hot plate for lunch as well as samples or products from their stores. Proceeds from the event will go to support Ruth and Naomi’s Mission, a non-profit organization feeding the hungry and providing shelter for the homeless in Chilliwack.
