Attempted bank robbery suspect in custody: Surrey RCMP

The Surrey RCMP say a suspect is in custody following an attempted bank robbery in Newton at the 13600 of 72nd avenue earlier this morning.


The man was taken into custody at around 2:20 in the afternoon without incident. The Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team, Police Dog Services, and a police negotiator all aided in the arrest.

The Surrey RCMP robbery unit is leading this investigation and officers remain on the scene to speak with witnesses and gather evidence. Road closures remain until further notice.
