Baby rescued from locked safe in Niagara Falls hotel room

Dec 20 2017, 12:56 am

The Niagara Regional Police Service said a baby was locked in a safe in a Niagara Falls Howard Johnson Hotel room and required a maintenance worker to break into it in order to save the infant.

The baby was alert and crying when they opened the safe and the parents immediately took the child and left the hotel before police arrived to question them.

Police are not sure of how the baby ended up in the safe and want to question the parents. The hotel room they were staying in was registered by someone from Brooklyn, New York and the car they were driving was a grey Ford passenger van with New Jersey license plates.

Vancity Buzz reached out to the Niagara Falls Howard Johnson for comment, but they said they could not speak on the incident since it is an ongoing investigation.
