Avril Lavigne and Nickelback's Chad Kroeger are engaged

They were friends on location in Paris, collaborating on Avril Lavigne’s fifth studio album—and then sparks began to fly between the two Canadian music stars.

“I knew I was falling for her. It was incredibly powerful and something I’ll never forget,” Chad Kroeger, lead vocalist and guitarist for the band Nickelback, tells HELLO! Canada magazine.

“He makes me laugh every day. He takes care of me in every way and is extremely attentive.” : says Avril

When I heard the news that Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger were getting married, I nearly lost it. I kept telling myself  “It’s a practical joke, it’s not real”, but every time I opened my eyes or turned the channel, it was right there in front of me. More news about Kroeger and Lavigne getting married – just laughing in my face.

“We are beyond thrilled that Avril and Chad turned to HELLO! Canada to tell their love story to the world,“ says Editor-in-Chief Alison Eastwood. “They have incredible chemistry and a strong bond due to their mutual careers in music. I’m sure all Canadians wish them all the best.”

Unfortunately not all Canadians wish them the best. I turned to Twitter and soon found both my Canadian and American counterparts equally displeased. One of my colleagues from the south made a brilliant comment and said;

“You Canadians are sensitive! Look, we have to hear about Kim Kardashian like every day and we are to blame for her. You deal with Avril and Chad”. @VinTMZ

If you want my two cents; this is a publicity stunt. They will get married, gain lots of media attention, and then in about a year, Avril will have “complications” and you will start to hear allegations about Kroger  not being a good husband. They will divorce – it won’t last and we all know it.
