This was the average attendance at BC Lions games this season

It’s been a good year for the BC Lions, both on and off the field.

Finishing the regular season with a 10-8 record, the Lions will be hosting a CFL playoff game at BC Place on Saturday, and they’re hoping for a big crowd to see them take on the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

“This is why it’s so big to host a home playoff game, especially in the West, to play in front of your home fans,” said Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke. “We’re excited about it; we know that the place is going to be loud. Hopefully we can make it uncomfortable for their offence.”

The 1:30 p.m. game will be preceded by tailgating at the Plaza of Nations, which will also feature trick-or-treating for kids, as the game will be on Halloween.

The Lions are hosting the West Semi-Final for the fourth time in five years. Two of those games saw a crowd of over 30,000 people.

Attendance at Lions games at BC Place in 2026

Average attendance for Lions games played at BC Place this season was 24,484. Those are the third-best numbers in the CFL, placing BC behind only Winnipeg and Saskatchewan.

Here’s the game-by-game breakdown:

  • July 25: Toronto 21,438
  • Aug. 8: Hamilton 19,387
  • Aug. 23: Saskatchewan 30,083
  • Sept. 4: Montreal 23,380
  • Sept. 25: Saskatchewan 24,183
  • Oct. 9: Ottawa 22,083
  • Oct. 23: Winnipeg 30,833

Technically, the Lions had a drop of 9.4 per cent from 2025’s average of 27,028. That number is a bit misleading, though. Last season’s attendance numbers were boosted by a near-sellout in their home opener with a little help from Snoop Dogg.

With the FIFA World Cup in Vancouver this year, BC Place was unavailable for the Lions’ first two home games. So instead of kicking off the season with a marquee concert and a crowd of over 50,000, they played in front of crowds north of 19,000 at the Apple Bowl in Kelowna.

The rapper, who briefly went by the moniker Snoop Lion and coaches youth football, performed at a pre-game concert ahead of the home opener, which meant that 52,837 fans showed up to see the Lions beat the Edmonton Elks.

Excluding the opener, the Lions’ average attendance in 2025 was 23,801.
