2 police cruisers crash on route to attempted robbery: RCMP

According to law enforcement, an attempted robbery in Surrey last night led to the collision of two police cruisers.

On Tuesday, at approximately 10:17 pm, the Surrey RCMP say they received a report of a robbery in progress outside a residence in the 6800 blocks of 148 Street.

According to a police report, a male suspect was in possession of a firearm and was demanding personal items from a victim.

The suspect is described as a male between 20 and 25 years of age, standing 5’8″ tall with brown hair and a thin build.

The suspect, however, fled the scene before officers were able to arrive.

While responding to the situation, two police vehicles were involved in a crash at the intersection of 72 Avenue and 140 Street.

Two officers were sent to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. They’ve since been released, however, the cause of the collision remains unclear.

The Surrey RCMP’s Robbery Unit is also continuing to investigate the attempted robbery and is asking the public for any information.
