Richmond RCMP have arrested a suspect in relation to a bizarre sexual assault case where the suspect was posing as a massage therapist before he allegedly assaulted a young female.

Just after 8:30 p.m. on September 16 a 19-year-old Kwantlen Polytechnic University student approached a man on campus who was advertising a complimentary massage for anyone willing to complete a survey. The 24-year-old suspect indicated he was a massage therapy student.

Instead of being awarded a free massage, the victim was allegedly sexually assaulted.

Police are now reporting they arrested the suspect, a resident of Richmond who is not a Kwantlen student nor known to police, on Tuesday, September 22.

“We are obviously very interested in knowing if there are any additional victims out there,” Corporal Eric Baskette of the Richmond RCMP said. “We also wish to alleviate any concerns by other students or the public. We mobilized quickly in making this arrest.”

RCMP are now asking anyone who may be another one of this suspect’s victims to please contact Constable Chu of the Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212, email [email protected] or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS-8477.
