The 3rd annual Canadian Videogame Awards are less than a month away and will be held at the Vancouver Convention Center. Electric Playground has short-listed the finalists today, and they announced exciting information on how you can get one of three hundred general admission tickets. Is it a coincidence that the first major comicon to hit Vancouver, The Fan Expo Convention, happens on the same weekend and in the same place!
There are many great Vancouver studios among the finalists for April 21st’s CVAs. Capcom Vancouver (formerly Blue Castle Games), is nominated for best Game Design for their open-world zombie game, “Dead Rising 2: Off the Record”. As well, Electronic Arts is nominated for their annual soccer hit “FIFA 12” (developed in Burnaby) for the category Best Console Game. Most notably, Relic Entertainment was nominated in 8 categories for their game “WarHammer 40,000: Space Marine”. Good luck guys!

That weekend (Apr 21 & 22) also hosts the Fan Expo Vancouver at the Vancouver Convention Center. You’ll see workshops, TV celebrities, 700 exhibitors, artists, fans in cosplay costumes and much more. One day tickets to the convention are $20 and a two day ticket is only $10 more.
