Apple Store to open below Nordstrom in Pacific Centre

A substantially larger Apple Store will open in the new retail space below Nordstrom at Vancouver’s Pacific Centre, according to sources at Retail Insider. The new store is expected to open in the fall of 2015.

The current Pacific Centre Apple store is about 5,400 sq. ft. in size. The store sold in excess of $75 million last year according to a source at Apple, making it one of the more productive Apple Stores in the company. Given the sales and the crowds of shoppers that it attracts, Apple is clearly in need of more space in Downtown Vancouver.

Apple is expected to be joined by several other prominent brands in the retail space below Nordstrom. One confirmed neighbour will be Weekend by Max Mara, which will also open in the fall of 2015. The entire retail space below Nordstrom will be accessed both from within Pacific Centre as well as from a new Robson Street entrance that will provide access downstairs via an escalator.

Although many of the world’s Apple Store flagships are free-standing and feature stunning architecture, the retail spaces below Nordstrom, where Apple will locate, will feature the same interior corridors as the rest of the mall’s lower level. The space will maintain the average height ceilings with honey-brown wood trim and no natural light.

Floor Plan

Proposed lease plan for the Pacific Centre expansion. An escalator from Robson Street will provide street access to these retail spaces. The escalator is on the bottom-left of this lease plan.
