Another car crashes into Surrey bus stop, 2 people critically injured
Two people are in critical condition this afternoon after a vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a bus stop in Surrey.
According to a witness, the incident occurred just before 5 p.m. at the intersection of 96 Avenue and King George Avenue. Both individuals were rushed to Surrey Memorial Hospital, which is located on the southeast corner of the intersection.
Photos on social media indicate the bus stop has been completely destroyed, with glass and parts of the bus stop scattered across the road.
Few details are available at this time; Surrey RCMP were not immediately available to provide a comment.
Police are in the area investigating the incident. The roads in the area remain closed.
This is the second bus stop-related accident in less than two days in the municipality. On Thursday morning, a pedestrian was rushed to hospital after being hit by a vehicle while standing near a bus stop on Fraser Highway and 156th Street. The victim later succumbed to their injuries in hospital.
