Hats Off Day returns to Burnaby this Saturday

Dec 19 2017, 11:32 pm

Since 1984, Hats Off Day on Hastings has been a community festival where merchants of the Heights in Burnaby take their hats off to celebrate their neighbours and customers on the first Saturday of every June.

This year, the festivities will take place Saturday, June 6 on Hastings Street between Boundary Road and Gamma Avenue. The entire street will be closed off for tens of thousands people to come together to experience what has been voted as “Burnaby’s Best Festival” by the Burnaby Now every year since 2005.

The day-long street festival includes musical performances by local artists, including Burnaby North Secondary bands, vocalist Stephen Scaccia, JUNO award-winning Jazz artist Gabriel Hasselback, Elvis & Marilyn of Iconic Tributes and more. This year’s theme is Hollywood, so if you feel like getting glamorous and celebrating in the streets, the fun runs from 9:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Family Fun Dash

Can your family come together and finish first? The three-block race begins on Madison Avenue all the way until MacDonald Avenue.

Hats Off Parade

The Hollywood themed parade starts at 10 a.m. and rolls down 10 blocks from Beta Avenue down Hastings Street and up to Boundary Road.

Street Festival and Show & Shine

Car owners will be showing off their shiny vehicles and motorcycles to the volunteer judges who will award trophies to the top category winners.
