There's a huge anime convention being held in Vancouver this weekend

If you’re a fan of anime and Japanese pop culture, this is the event you’ll want to cancel all your other plans for.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of Anirevo, or Anime Revolution. If you haven’t, just picture a massive anime convention showcasing all things related to Japanese pop culture!

Now in its eighth year, Anirevo is happening in Vancouver this weekend (August 9 to 11) at the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Love reading manga, watching anime, building model kits, or cosplay? If so, this is the perfect opportunity for you to join (or reconnect with) the community.

For those new to Anirevo, drop by any (or all) of the three days of the convention to meet like-minded, creative people. It’s time to inspire, collaborate, and engage in new experiences!

Expect to see cosplayers dressed up as all your favourite anime characters as soon as you arrive at the venue. Count how many Naruto cosplayers you can spy, or see if you can pick out your favourite One Piece character. The possibilities are endless — and cosplay is one of the most highly anticipated parts of Anirevo!

The Exhibition Hall at the Vancouver Convention Centre will be filled with vendor and artist booths, with a variety of live musical performances taking place throughout the weekend.

Highlights of the event include autograph and photo booth opportunities, special screenings, a Gunpla Builders World Cup, a Japanese Live Recording Panel, and Batsu Games with the TokiMeki Maid Café Maids. If you’ve always wondered what a Japanese maid café experience is like, here’s your chance.

And of course, the fun will continue into the night. Head to the Akiba Night Rave on Friday night, and the much-anticipated Animusix Anisong Concert on Saturday night!

Special guests throughout the weekend include the voice talents behind the hit anime series Kill la Kill, Japanese pop singers Asaka and yanaginagi, as well as popular YouTuber and voice actor ProZD.
