Vancouver’s hosting duties for the FIFA World Cup are over, but the memories will last a lifetime.

Thousands of soccer fans invaded Vancouver for its first go-around hosting the FIFA men’s World Cup, which was highlighted by the magic of Canada’s men winning their first-ever game in the tournament.

The FIFA World Cup also saw Australian supporters take to the streets of Vancouver with creative chants, while Colombian fans made their presence felt.

Renowned football stars such as Egypt’s Mohammed Salah and Belgium’s Kevin De Bruyne also stepped foot on the grass at BC Place, with the latter showering the stadium with praise.

Heck, Swiss players went as far as to call Vancouver a second home.

Yes, people of the West Coast know how beautiful Vancouver is, but where did it stand among World Cup host cities?

According to popular vlogger Casey Settleman, Vancouver ranked first overall.

Settleman grew his following during the FIFA World Cup, as he documented his visit to all 16 World Cup host cities. He also set a Guinness World Record by attending a FIFA World Cup match for 19 consecutive days.

So, there probably aren’t many who are better suited to properly rank every World Cup city.

“Vancouver is one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever seen,” Settleman said.

“Public transportation is fantastic. The stadium, I don’t know why people from Vancouver were hating on it, but I think the natural light coming in… it’s also a smaller stadium, which I think creates a better atmosphere.”

“You also get a city on the water, which is one of the most beautiful cities you’re going to find in all of North America.”

The City of Vancouver was all in for the FIFA World Cup. Each of the seven matches at BC Place was tabbed as a sellout, with crowds of 52,497 for each match. At the midway point of the World Cup, FIFA Fan Festival Vancouver had attracted more than 334,000 visitors.

While Vancouver got the highest praise from the record-setting Settleman, the vlogger did rank Toronto as the second-best destination he visited during the FIFA World Cup.
