Amazon.com unveiled a new tablet that will only cost consumers $50 USD, which works out to be about $66 Canadian.
The tablet, called the Fire, is apparently more durable than an iPad Air and has twice the processing power of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite. It has a seven inch display, front and rear facing cameras, 128 GB of expandable storage and a quad-core processor.
The best part? They come available in packs of six. The six packs are $250, which means you’re getting a free tablet.

“Today, we’re taking another step in our mission to deliver premium products at non-premium prices,” said Amazon.com Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos in a statement.
“The all-new Fire features a quad-core processor, is incredibly durable, and is backed by the Amazon content ecosystem, the new AmazonUnderground, and Amazon customer service with Mayday Screen Sharing. Fire sets a new bar for what customers should expect from a low cost tablet.”
The Fire tablet comes with OS 5 “Bellini,” which has the “look and feel of a magazine.” Amazon claims it makes the viewing experience and searching for content that much better.
Fire tablets start shipping out on Wednesday, September 30, but they’re available to order now.
Other products they’ve released today are the Fire HD 8, Fire HD 10, Fire Kids Edition tablet and and Amazon Fire TV.
