Amar Doman says CFL got it wrong on touchdown that ended BC Lions season
The BC Lions suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the final seconds of the Western Final Saturday in Saskatchewan.
But should the winning touchdown have counted?
Lions owner Amar Doman doesn’t think so, as he voiced his opinion on social media about the play that ended his team’s season.
With 14 seconds left in the game, BC was clinging to a narrow 21-17 lead as the Saskatchewan Roughriders pushed at first and goal from the three-yard line. Roughriders quarterback Trevor Harris found receiver Tommy Nield for the game-winning touchdown, though it required video replay to confirm the catch.
The touchdown was upheld, sending the Roughriders to the 112th Grey Cup in Winnipeg next week.
Doman didn’t agree with the call, and called it out on Instagram.
“Not a catch,” Doman said, sharing a freeze-framed image that appears to show Nield trapping the ball between his hands and the turf.

If the touchdown had been overturned, Saskatchewan likely would have had another two shots to win the game.
The Lions are still looking for their first Grey Cup appearance in the Doman era, as the team hasn’t played in the CFL’s championship game since 2011. The Victoria native bought the Lions in 2021 and is credited with reviving fan interest in the team.
