FINALLY: All Dressed chips are available in the U.S.

Ah, the All Dressed Potato Chip. It’s a flavour sensation, a taste explosion, a veritable cornucopia of savoury notes that is cherished by Canadians and misunderstood (or envied) by our friends to the south in the U.S.

At long last, this snack food sensation is part of a cross-border culinary detente, as Ruffles recently revealed they will be sending this Canadian concoction to store shelves in the States.

You’re welcome, America.

Frito Lay, the company behind Ruffles, confirmed the news with some vital details Tuesday.

The All Dressed chips will be available only from now until December 7 in the States–minus the French and English packaging, so a slightly less authentic overall experience.

Now is the time to tell your friends and relatives abroad to fire up their tastebuds and hoarder tendencies if they want to let you off the hook for sending them their regular All Dressed chips care packages. (Seriously, how many of us have hauled chips across the border for our less fortunate American pals?)

For the uninitiated (and un-Canadian, really), the All Dressed chip basically is a mashup of every possible basic chip flavour. You’ve got your vinegary tang, your bold BBQ, your sweet ketchup-y bits. Or, as some might say, it’s like eating a pile of salt. Oh, Canada!

“You don’t know quite what to expect when you put Ruffles All Dressed chips in your mouth,” said Dana Lawrence, senior director of marketing at Frito-Lay in a news release.

It’s also pretty fun to watch people try them for the first time.

And, FYI, All Dressed, per the fine folks at Frito Lay, is the most popular chip flavour in Canada, and it’s particularly popular among young men. (It’s unclear what the stats are on post 420 consumers.)

Looks like Ruffles is hoping to load up this transborder chip mission with as much Canadiana as possible. What’s next? Will we blow the collective American mind with our Smarties? Send Rick Mercer over? It’s a delicious new era.
