Alexander Wang brings his brand of downtown cool to the Pop-In@Nordstrom

Gracing the bodies of super models like Jourdan Dunn and Chanel Iman, musicians like Madonna and A$AP Rocky, and celebrity it girls like Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Alexander Wang is a brand that has come to epitomize downtown cool.

A Taiwanese American fashion designer, Alexander Wang started his career by attending the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York City. Creating his namesake label soon after graduation, the designer has since won many awards for his work and has garnered a cult-like following of fashionistas and celebrities from around the world.

For the month of September, the Pop-In@Nordstrom will be hosting a selection of clothing and accessories for men and women – including exclusive, limited-edition pieces – that highlight Wang’s designer edge and love of pop culture.

Alexander Wang’s Fall 2016 collection deliberately opposes standard definitions of beauty and taste. Pieces such as the delicate embroidered lace dress with a sheer lingerie-style top combine saccharine innocence with subversive rebellion. Sections of distressed and frayed denim appear on jackets and shorts while heritage tweeds, bouclé, and leather materials are both repurposed and pierced. Pieces from T by Alexander Wang, like a velvet bra top and a buffalo plaid fringed wool coat, share this tension between hard and soft.
