Air Canada is getting serious about the size of your carry-on bags

If you’re flying Air Canada anytime soon, make sure your luggage measures up, because the airline is getting serious about oversized carry-on baggage on flights.

Air Canada has implemented airline reps at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport to test bags passengers are hoping to bring on board to ensure they don’t exceed the size limits.

This new program affects domestic and international departures from the busy hub, and comes on the heels of Air Canada’s recent announcement they are instituting a $25 first checked bag fee in order to bring them up to speed with the North American airline industry’s new practices.

Air Canada’s bag size monitoring program “will also facilitate an orderly transition to the implementation of a domestic first checked bag fee beginning in November,” airline spokeswoman Isabelle Arthur told the Financial Post.
