Adopt Me: Hank the gentle giant

Jan 1 2017, 2:20 am

If you’ve ever had the luck of meeting a Great Dane, you’ll know that they are usually sweethearts that have a penchant for leaning.

These noble doggos are attention and affection-seeking, and the lean is a commanding gesture that they really want to be petted!

Hank is no stranger to the lean. Though he loves to go on walks, and enjoys running around the backyard, he’s also a big cuddler.

This two-year-old Dane grew up in Mexico, but was flown to Vancouver after his owners gave him up because they couldn’t afford him anymore.

That’s where Taryn Ronning of Golden Hearts Rescue Society comes in. She’s been helping Hank find a home, in conjunction with Caare (Companion Animal Advocacy & Rescue Effort ) Rescue.

Ronning describes the pup as “fun loving, goofy and sweet, and loves to play and cuddle.”

Weighing in at 110 pounds, Hank is small for a Dane. But make no mistake, he’s a big eater, says Ronning: “He eats eight cups of kibble a day!”

Danes are a sensitive and strong breed, and the rescue is looking for a home that is experienced with large breed dogs. It’s preferred he goes to a home where there are no other pets, due to his size. He could also use some help learning to walk politely on leash like a proper gentleman.

CAARE also has a number of great pups up for adoption. Follow their Facebook page for the most up-to-date doggo listings.
