ACL employees 'throw' their bosses off a building on Wednesday

Employees of B.C.’s fourth largest Canadian-headquartered software company, ACL, won a bet with their bosses – if they met their growth targets for the fiscal year, they could “throw” their senior leadership team off a building for a great cause.

They far exceeded the goal, and the reward will come on Wednesday afternoon at 999 West Hastings, when four ACL executives, including President & CEO Laurie Schultz, will rappel down a 20-story building – dressed as superheroes – for the 10th Annual Easter Seals “Drop Zone Vancouver.”

Okay, so the sales team won’t actually “throw” their bosses off the building, but watching their senior leadership team hang 200 feet off the ground (in costumes) is a win in their books.

The event is being held in partnership with Vancouver Easter Seals, an organization dedicated to enriching the lives of disabled children and their families. The ACL team is helping raise funds through their participation in the event, and is currently leading all other teams in donations, having raised more than $12,000 to date – nearly enough to send five kids with special needs to an Easter Seals camp.

Schultz, rappelling dressed as Venom, will be joined by Captain America (Dan Zitting, VP of Product Design & Management), Superman (Board Member Greg Wolfe) and Batman (Sean Zuberbier, VP of Sales).

“ACL is very excited for the Drop Zone Superhero event,” Schultz said. “The Easter Seals helps hundreds of families across B.C. each year and we could not be happier to support such a great organization, while having fun at the same time!”

While many may see this stunt as extreme, Schultz noted that ACL’s innovative culture is a priority, so participation in an event like this is fitting for the company. “ACL is constantly seeking creative ways to engage employees to better serve our community,” she added.

The company’s innovative culture can be seen in everything from cross-departmental “Town Hall” meetings and Zitting’s “Marshmallow Challenges,” to the new office open-floor layout, designed to both promote collaboration and reflect the company’s themes of “Local Roots” and “Global Reach.”

ACL provides governance, risk and compliance software solutions to 89% of Fortune 500 companies around the globe. The company makes Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, such as this event, a core focus of their mission.
