Downtown Vancouver’s first-ever axe throwing venue is set to open next month.

Academie Duello, in partnership with Axewood axe throwing, has announced that it will open an axe-throwing venue at its centre for swordplay in downtown Vancouver.

The throwing begins with an “Axe-Stravaganza” Halloween Party that’s being held on Friday, November 1. Once the space is fully open, Academie Duello via email that they’ll be hosting tournaments and adventures available to individuals, small groups, and businesses, as well as weekly leagues.

“Axe throwing facilities, leagues, and event companies have been established in nearly every major market in Canada,” writes the two companies. “Academie Duello and Axweood will be offering the first permanent venue in Vancouver.”

According to Academie Duello, participants all receive an orientation prior to throwing and can be safely participating within 10 minutes.

They also say that it takes “significantly less force than one would imagine to stick a bullseye — which is part of the appeal.”

Academie Duello’s Axe-Stravaganza will take place on Friday, November 1, with admission available for $35.

The event includes a free drink, entry and participation to an axe-throwing tournament, the chance to cleave cabbage with real swords, a photo booth, board game area, and psychic readings. Halloween costumes, naturally, are encouraged.
