Abercrombie & Fitch and AllSaints coming to Pacific Centre expansion

Dec 19 2017, 10:50 pm

Fashion retailers Abercrombie & Fitch and AllSaints will be opening their first stores in Metro Vancouver at Pacific Centre’s expansion beneath the Nordstrom building later this spring.

According to Business in Vancouver, the 48,000 square foot, 13 retail store expansion within the space that was formerly occupied by Sears’ men’s department will open to shoppers on Wednesday, June 17.

The latest revelation follows last month’s release of the list of the first nine retailers that will occupy the expansion:

• B2
• BOSS Store
• Kate Spade
• Microsoft
• PANDORA
• Rockport
• Ted Baker London
• TUMI
• Weekend Max Mara

Two retail units have yet to be rented out, and all but two stores – Abercrombie & Fitch and Microsoft – will open in time for the June grand opening. The new expansion includes a new mall entrance from the corner of Robson and Granville streets.

There are no plans for a relocation of the mall’s existing Apple Store to a new and larger unit within the expansion space. Sources told Vancity Buzz that such a plan was considered but it faltered, which could indicate Apple’s continued intention to open a standalone flagship location in the downtown core.

There is pent up demand for Apple products in the local market. The 5,366 square foot Pacific Centre Apple Store is one of the company’s most profitable on a per square foot basis with sales of $70-million per year for the company.

Pacific Centre’s expansion at 725 Granville takes up 578,000 square feet of building space formerly occupied by Sears, which purchased Eatons in 1999. The seven-floor building consists of a flagship Nordstrom department store on the first three floors and AAA class office space on the remaining four floors above.

Nordstrom is scheduled to open on September 18. Microsoft will join Sony Pictures Imageworks at 725 Granville later this year when they move in to their offices on the sixth and seventh floors.

Law firm Miller Thomson will take occupancy of 48,000 square feet of office space on the fourth floor in early 2017.

The Pacific Centre expansion launch coincides with the opening of another upscale shopping centre along the Canada Line. The 80-store McArthurGlen Vancouver Airport Outlet Mall, located next to Templeton Station at Sea Island, is also scheduled for a late-spring opening.
