ABC Book & Comic Emporium Closing for Good

Dec 19 2017, 2:18 pm

ABC Book & Comic Emporium is closing for good after 26 years on Granville and Broadway. The store’s last day will be on November 13th. On the bright side, until the store is completely out of commission, everything is 50% off! To be fair, it was usually 40% off anyways, but it’s always nice to see the silver lining.

Losing ABC Book & Comic Emporium Hurts Vancouver’s Comic Scene

ABC Book & Comic Emporium closing down is a pretty harsh blow to Vancouver’s emerging comic scene. ABC Book & Comic Emporium is one of the better shops in Vancouver, not to mention by far the cheapest with 40% off a huge selection of graphic novels. Vancouver has lately seen a resurgence in comic book culture with the popular Vancouver Fan Expo and upcoming Vancouver Mega Comic Con. Hopefully closing shop isn’t a trend that follows suit with other stores any time soon.

What Stores are Left?

There are very few legitimate comic book stores remaining in Vancouver. Two of the best comic book stores still standing in town are The Comic Shop on West 4th, which has been an institution in this town for almost 40 years, and Rx Comics just off Main and Broadway.

I am just about to start a full rundown of the comic shops around town. I also give great book recommendations like Joe Hill’s Locke & Key to keep yourself entertained over the “Graphic Weekend”.
