Fists fly at Abbotsford brawl after NBA final

Jun 20 2016, 9:12 pm

Fists started flying at an Abbotsford pub earlier last night, and Constable Ian MacDonald with Abbotsford Police says the timing seemed… apt.

“Seemed to coincide with the conclusion of the NBA final game.”

MacDonald says four units responded to Finnegan’s Pub off King’s Road and College Drive, and stayed until things settle down.

However, he says while the timing is suspect, it’s not clear yet if the brawl was actually linked to the result of the NBA final.

“We don’t think in this case that it would either be the Golden State Warriors or the Cleveland Cavaliers that would have been in the bar. People in there have obviously made a choice to get in an altercation, and clearly we’ve made a choice to sort it out.”

The BC Ambulance service did not attend the scene, and nobody was taken into custody.
