Abbotsford and Chilliwack's tulip festivals have officially been cancelled

Apr 5 2020, 8:18 pm

Two of the BC’s most exciting spring events, the stunning tulip festivals in Abbotsford and Chilliwack, have announced they will not be opening for the 2020 season.

Both Bloom (The Abbotsford Tulip Festival) and the Chilliwack Tulip Festival have published statements on their websites confirming these decisions were made due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The Bloom event and Tulips of the Valley’s celebrations (Chilliwack Tulip Festival and Chilliwack Sunflower Festival) draw hundreds of thousands of people annually.

The Chilliwack Sunflower Festival is still tentatively scheduled to commence at the beginning of August.

Bloom, The Abbotsford Tulip Festival will not open this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The health and safety of our guests, staff, and community is of utmost importance to us. As our festival typically draws close to 100,000 people annually, we will strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the Provincial Health Officer regarding prohibiting events greater than 50 people. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ At this time, the best advice we can follow is that of BC’s health and government officials, to simply “stay home.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We look forward to the day when we can welcome you again in-person. Please remember, even through the cloudiest days we will all bloom again. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Stay safe and healthy friends, ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Alexis Warmerdam-Szarek⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Owner, Bloom, the Abbotsford Tulip Festival ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀ 🌷💛
