Jul 10 2019, 11:39 pm

With the warm weather and camping season upon us, beer is a must-have on every person’s (well, every adult’s) grocery list.

After all, there’s nothing more satisfying than cracking open an ice-cold can of beer on a sunny day. We’ve teamed up with BC Liquor Stores to tell you about the hottest BC brews that you need to stock up on this weekend.

It’s time to support your local breweries in BC — and trust us, we have plenty of good ones scattered around. All the beers on this list are BC crafted, and from unique new flavours such as Triple Berry Milkshake, and classic fruity flavours like Grapefruit and Mango, there’s something for everyone.

Be the first to try them out today!

Parallel 49 Brews Brothers Vol. 5

Brews Bros’ back, alright! Volume 5 of Parallel 49’s annual music-themed mixer pack features a Boy Bands theme. The eight-pack of 473 ml cans includes collaborations with Coal Harbour, Fuggles & Warlock, Field House, Luppolo, Iron Road, The 101 Brewhouse, Sooke Oceanside, and Brewhall.

Russell Triple Berry Milkshake IPA

This one is a must-try this summer. Triple Berry Milkshake-flavoured beer? You have our attention.

Russell’s Triple Berry Milkshake IPA is loaded with blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries. This beer is sweetened with lactose, which gives it that ‘milkshake’ taste, along with a nice creaminess to the body. Sip it on its own, or try it in an ice-cream float for the ultimate adult summer treat.

33 Acres of Nirvana

33 Acres of Nirvana/BC Liquor Stores

33 Acres is one of Vancouver’s most well-loved craft beer brewers. This West Coast Indian Pale Ale beautifully balances bitter-fresh pine notes with grapefruit rind and candied orange citrus. Try it with some fried chicken for a true taste of nirvana.

Category 12 Juicy Data Hazy IPA

This naturally hazy, double dry-hopped IPA is bursting with tropical fruit, passionfruit, peach, grapefruit, and citrus flavours, and is brewed with four hop varieties. The palate is full-bodied with a creamy texture and noticeable bitterness on the finish. This is the perfect choice for any fan of hazy IPA’s.

Dead Frog Blueberry Blast Kettle Sour

This popular sour wheat ale is bursting with flavours of freshly-picked, sun-ripened blueberries and ripe lemons. It is refreshingly sweet and sour with a fruit-filled finish.

Longwood Berried Alive Raspberry Ale

Longwood’s Berried Alive was made by re-fermenting whole BC-grown raspberries with their lightly hopped blonde ale. It has a light and easy flavour, with tart and tasty raspberry notes, making it perfect for sipping on a patio on a hot sunny day.

Strange Fellows Popinjay

Strange Fellows Popinjay/BC Liquor Stores

Strange Fellows Popinjay is a refreshing, crisp, and delicious take on a West Coast sour. Brewed with Citra and Vic Secret hops, this sour has big tropical fruit notes of mango, passionfruit, and citrus peel, with floral and pine accents. It pairs beautifully with fish and chips, poutine, or pork chops — so bring it along to your next summer backyard get-together.

Balderdash Honey Badger Honey Lager

Honey Badger doesn’t care about anything except great taste. Brewed with natural BC honey and malted barley, this beer has a feisty character with a dash of hoppiness and subtle honey sweetness.
