Happy Halloween, everyone! Get your spook on with our list of seven events around Vancouver today, October 31. Minoru Park Halloween Fireworks Festival, Fright Nights, and more!

Halloween on the Heights

  • What: Families are invited to dress up and go trick or treating down Hastings Street. Kids and their adults will be able to get yummy treats from neighbourhood stores and ride the Halloween Trains in the Dark.
  • When: Tuesday, October 31, 2017
    • Trick or Treating from 3:30 to 5:30 pm
    • Halloween Trains in the Dark from 6 to 9 pm
  • Where: 
    • Trick or Treating is along Hastings Street in Burnaby
    • Halloween Trains in the Dark at Burnaby Central Railway at Confederation Park – 120 North Willingdon Avenue, Burnaby
  • Tickets: All events are free, except the Halloween Trains in the Dark, which costs $3.50 and includes free hot chocolate and cookies. Costumes strongly encouraged.

Central City Halloween Fun Event

  • What: Families are invited to Central City for a free Halloween Fun Event. Children ages 12 and under dressed in costume can take part in the centre-wide trick-or-treating at participating stores (while limited treats last). Plus, families can enjoy Halloween craft activities, face-painting, balloon artists, entertainment, story-time, and more (near Winners).
  • When: Tuesday, October 31, 2017
  • Time: 4 to 6 pm
  • Where: Surrey City Hall – 13450 104 Avenue, Surrey
  • Admission: Free

Halloween 2017 on Commercial Drive

  • What: Free pizza at Fomoso for children under 12 years old, trick or treating at businesses along Commercial Drive, kids activities such as face painting and balloon twisting, and a fireworks finale.
  • When: Tuesday, October 31, 2017
  • Time: 12 pm to 8 pm (fireworks finale at the end of the night)
  • Where: Along Commercial Drive, with fireworks at Grandview Park, Vancouver
  • Price: Free

Minoru Park Halloween Fireworks Festival

  • What: Organized by the City of Richmond, this is far and away Vancouver’s greatest, most professional Halloween fireworks show. In addition to the awesome fireworks, on the ground will be dancing, actors, activities for children, and plenty of other Halloween sideshow creature-people.
  • When: Tuesday, October 31, 2017
  • Time: 6:30 to 8:45 pm
  • Where: Minoru Park  – 7191 Granville Avenue, Richmond
  • Admission: Free

Halloween Hilarity at Cafe Deux Soleils

  • What: Comedy gets spooky on October 31 with eerie laughs at Cafe Deux Soleils. Come enjoy mini-chocolate bars, ghost stories, a real-life Ouija Board, and Halloween comedy with The Fictionals. Plus dress up in costume for a chance to win prizes.
  • When: Tuesday, October 31, 2017
  • Time: 8 pm
  • Where: Cafe Deux Soleils – 2096 Commercial Drive, Vancouver
  • Tickets: At the door, $7 or $5 for students

Stanley Park Ghost Train 

  • What: The legendary Ghost Train returns to Stanley Park this Halloween. This year’s theme is the Alien Invasion; be prepared to be abducted to an unearthly, fantastical, and strange world. Journey into the restricted zones and witness the landing.
  • When: Now to Tuesday, October 31, 2017
  • Time: 5:30 to 9:30 pm
  • Where: Pipeline Road in Stanley Park, via the West Georgia Street park entrance
  • Tickets: Online

Fright Nights at Playland

  • What: Fright Nights return to Playland this October, bringing hauntings, horror, and hair-raising rides to Vancouver for another year. This year, there will be eight haunted houses for you to explore (if you dare). And you’ll also be able to brave 20 rides – five more than last year.
  • When: Now to Tuesday, October 31, 2017
  • Time: 7 pm to midnight or 1 am depending on the day
  • Where: Playland at the PNE – 2901 East Hastings Street, Vancouver
  • Tickets: Online or at the gate. Also available at Lower Mainland 7-Eleven Stores starting October 4. $25-$105 depending on the date. Online discount available.
