SINGING AND DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY AT FUNDRAISER FOR NEW LOCAL PRODUCTION COMPANY, PIN UP PRODUCTIONS, APRIL 15

After spending the last two years performing for Vancouver audiences on the stage at the soon-to-be demolished Maxine’s Hideaway, the former Candy Girls: Jovanna Huguet, Fiona Vroom and Paula Giroday have teamed up with local choreographer and performer Joel Sturrock. Together they have created Pin Up Productions, which will continue the tradition of bringing live and on-screen performances to Vancouver. Their first venture, The True Heroines, a six-part web-series telling the story of young housewives in the fifties who sing, dance and always save the day, gears up for production this summer.

Pin Up Productions will host an event April 15th to assist in funding the local series. The fifties inspired evening will ensure a night of fantastic live performances, dancing and singing out loud. The one-of-a-kind line up of performers includes: Ashleigh Ball of Canadian Band Hey Ocean! fresh off her 2010 Olympic performance; Chris Kelly of local band Analog Bell Service; the former Candy Girls; and one and only crooner emcee David Mongar.

In addition to the live stage performers there will be vintage tunes spinning all night by Hot Cha! DJs Tubesocks and Kookee.

The Fundraiser will be held at the ANZA CLUB, which is located at 3 West 8th Avenue at Ontario Street.

Tickets for the evening are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. For those who come dressed in a fifties theme, there will be door prizes. There will also be raffle prizes and a 50/50 at the event. Reservations can be made by e-mailing: [email protected].
