It’s Tuesday… and the weekend seems so far away. But Vancouver never sleeps – and there’s still loads to do in the city, even on a school night.

So here are 5 things to do in Vancouver today, from hip hop and hustle in Hastings to a meditation adventure in Stanley Park.

Hastings Culture Clash

  • What: Part of a series of events created to unify dancers and the public with free workshops taught by some of Vancouver and the Lower Mainland’s best dancers. Workshops this week include House, Hip Hop, Top Rock and Hustle. There’ll also be free food, including sushi and fruit, and free non-alcoholic drinks.
  • Where: Hastings Community Centre – 3096 East Hastings Street, Vancouver

Border Crossings

  • What: Guests of this year’s Indian Summer Festival allow improv actors to act out key moments of their lives in front of a live audience, backed up by a musical trio who will create the soundtrack to this amazing theatre experience.
  • Where: Ismaili Centre Burnaby – 4010 Canada Way, Burnaby
  • When: Tuesday, July 12, at 8:30 pm

Napoleon Dynamite

  • What: This week’s instalment of the Evo Summer Cinema Series of free outdoor movies, shown on a four-storey inflatable movie screen in Stanley Park.
  • Where: Ceperley Meadows (Second Beach), Stanley Park
  • When: Every Tuesday from July 5 to August 23, movies start at dusk
  • Admission: Totally free, just pull up a deckchair or picnic blanket. VIP seating priced $20 available from Picatic.

Woo Talks

  • What: A technology-free evening of inspiring stories and relaxed networking at the Sai Woo Restaurant in Chinatown, featuring writer Cea Sunrise Person, filmmaker Joe Schliessler, artist Faith Moosang and life coach David Frank Gomes.
  • Where: Sai Woo Restaurant – 158 E Pender St, Vancouver
  • When: Tuesday, July 12, from 6 to 8:30 pm

Stanley Park Rainforest Adventure Tour

  • What: A walking tour and immersive meditation workshop deep in the Stanley Park forest. While learning about the Embodied Cognition meditation practice, you’ll be able to experience nature’s beauty with a heightened sense of awe and wonder.
  • Where: Meet at the English Bay Inukshuk – 1700 Beach Avenue, Vancouver; hike finishes at Third Beach to watch the sunset at the weekly drum circle.
