It might be getting cloudy and cold, but things are just starting to heat up in the city. Here are a few of the awesome events happening tonight in Vancouver.

Man Man at Venue Nightclub

  • What: Conceptual rock ensemble Man Man come to the Venue Nightclub tonight on their North American tour. With a sound like this, you’re going to know if this is your thing or not within five seconds of hearing them. Either way, you’re going to want to give it a shot.
  • Where: Venue Nightclub – 881 Granville Street, Vancouver
  • When: Thursday, September 17; 7 p.m.

Young Empires at Future Sound Club

  • What: Rock trio Young Empires come to Vancouver, bringing with them a unique blend of electronic, dance, and rock. Wanna dance? This is your stuff.
  • Where: Future Sound Club – 147 East Pender Street, Vancouver
  • When: Thursday, September 17; 7 p.m.

Disgraced

  • What: A play centering on the lives of Muslim-Americans, and the Islamaphobia experience in today’s culture. The play is centered around a dinner party between a Muslim couple, African-American couple, and Jewish couple. Things are sure to get interesting.
  • Where: The Arts Club Theatre Company – 2750 Granville Street, Vancouver
  • When: Thursday, September 17; 8 p.m.

Project Soul + South Asian Arts

  • What: Two of Vancouver’s hottest dance companies come together for a show unlike any other. South Asian Arts will perform traditional bhangra dances, while Project Soul will showcase popping and locking and break dancing. When two cultures combine, it’s a beautiful thing.

Five for Film Lovers

  • What: This is the first night of Five for Film Lovers. From September 17-21, the Cinematique will be showing five films, suggested by local donors. Tonight’s line-up is The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, In the Mood for Love, Casablanca, A Matter of Life and Death, and Vertigo. For a list of the upcoming films, visit their website.
