Pumped for Election Day? Today is your last week day before a (potentially) new government is announced, and Canada (potentially) gets a new Prime Minister. Calm some of those nerves at a few of these events.

The Vancouver Events Calendar has more.

  • What: What better way to spend your Friday than getting screamed at by eight-foot-tall space monsters? Gwar, legends of metal, are in town tonight. Don’t bank on them spraying you with a torrent of fake blood, but understand that it’s a possibility.
  • Where: Commodore Ballroom – 868 Granville Street, Vancouver
  • When: Friday, October 16; 7 p.m.

Toast to the Coast

  • What: Our ocean’s are in danger. Humanity’s hunger for the fruits of the sea has pushed many species to the brink of extinction. Toast to the Coast celebrates sustainable practices, and the beauty and bounty of the Pacific coast, and tells you what you can do to help.
  • Where: Vancouver Aquarium – 845 Avison Way, Vancouver
  • When: Friday, October 16; 6 p.m.

Canucks vs. Blues

  • What: The Vancouver Canucks take on the St. Louis Blues tonight at Rogers Arena. With all this baseball talk, it would be nice to get a hockey game in.
  • Where: Rogers Arena – 800 Griffiths Way, Vancouver
  • When: Friday, October 16; 7 p.m.

Halloween FlyOver Canada

  • What: A Halloween-themed multimedia flying simulator, where you earn a Witch Diploma and soar through a haunted house? Be still my beating heart.
  • Where:
  • When: Friday, October 16; 4 to 9 p.m.

Living with Wildlife

  • What: A conference aimed at bringing together political and community representatives from across Canada to discuss our role in coexisting with our natural environment. Dry, but vitally important. Do your part.
  • Where:
  • When: Friday, October 16; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
